Injured Anthony Edwards could return to the Timberwolves’ lineup as soon as Thursday in Dallas. That’s good news for a team in the midst of a difficult portion of its schedule and that showed in Monday’s loss in New Orleans that if it is to compete with some of the NBA’s most-talented teams — particularly on the road — it likely will need its best player to do so.Edwards’ return would fill Minnesota’s boat re: roster availability after Jordan McLaughlin and Jaden McDaniels also returned to action within the past few days.So Timberwolves coach Chris Finch will have the option to reshuffle the deck and dial up the rotation however he sees fit.As a reminder, when the Wolves were healthy at the start of the season, the core rotational pieces were Edwards, Karl-Anthony Towns, Rudy Gobert, Mike Conley, McDaniels, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Naz Reid, Kyle Anderson and Shake Milton, while Jordan McLaughlin was used in short stints as a spark when needed.But things have changed since th...

Nick Mullens will be the starting quarterback for the Vikings moving forward.The official announcement came from head coach Kevin O’Connell on Tuesday before the Vikings held a walkthrough practice at TCO Performance Center. Braeden Carrington to step away from Gophers men’s basketball program

Gophers sophomore guard Braeden Carrington is taking an indefinite break from the U men’s basketball program to focus on his mental health.“There’s areas of my life I am looking to improve and must step away from the program and put myself first,” Carrington wrote on X on Tuesday. “I plan on returning to the team when the time is right. For now please respect my space and allow me to ultimately do what’s best for me. A small business in Saratoga Springs temporarily closed after thieves stole what the owner says was hundreds of thousands of dollars in merchandise. Police say the scammers will claim there is an emergency involving a family member or that bail money is needed to get a family member out of jail. St. Louis Catholic schools to remain open after closure threats

ST. LOUIS -- Many Catholic schools were waiting on an announcement from the archdiocese about closures. Over the past 20 years, enrollment has dropped from 40,000 to less than 20,000. The Archdiocese notified about 26 schools that they might be closing. It appears that they will remain open.The Office of Catholic Education and Formation, along with Episcopal Vicars, met with archdiocesan pastors to evaluate elementary school sustainability. Pastors recommend keeping schools open for 2024-25, with standalone schools submitting long-term plans by Feb 1, 2024. Bay FC adds former NWSL Best XI center back, two others in trio of trades

Bay FC made a trio of trades Tuesday ahead of the NWSL expansion draft, adding defenders Emily Menges and Ellie Jean, as well as midfielder Dorian Bailey.The club will send $75,000 in allocation money to Portland in exchange for Menges, an NWSL Best XI selection in 2016 (and Second XI three times since).In each of the trades, Bay FC offered protection in the expansion draft to the players’ former teams, which means they will not select a player from the Portland Thorns, Washington Spirit or Gotham FC in Friday’s draft.Bay FC also received $130,000 in allocation money from Louisville as part of the trade to acquire Jean from Gotham FC.The additions of Menges, 31, Bailey, 26, and Jean, 26, bring the roster to five players Bay FC acquired former Santa Clara captain Alex Loera from Kansas City and signed defender Caprice Dydasco last month.Menges won two titles in Portland and has appeared in 186 games (179 starts) for the Thorns across all NWSL competitions.Bay FC general m...
