Schenectady County passes tax exemption for volunteer first responders

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Schenectady County Legislature passed a local law to allow volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers to receive a property tax credit. Now, any firefighter or ambulance worker with more than two years of service can receive a 10 percent credit on their property taxes. Officials said this is a way to show appreciation to first responders.Eligible volunteers can apply for a tax credit by March 1, 2024 to be eligible for the exemption in January 2025.

Collision in San Jose injures two pedestrians

SAN JOSE – A driver hit two pedestrians Monday night in San Jose, sending one to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.The collision was reported around 4:40 p.m. at Larkspur Canyon Drive and Stoney Creek Place, according to the San Jose Police Department.Police described the other pedestrian’s injuries as not life-threatening.Additional details about the collision were not immediately available Monday night.2/ One pedestrian was transported a hospital with life threatening injuries, the other pedestrian sustained non life-threatening injuries. The Warriors snapped an 11-game road losing skid Monday night, beating the Houston Rockets 121-108.Stephen Curry cheered while riding a stationary bike as the Warriors built their fourth-quarter lead up to 15 with under six minutes left. It didn’t matter that his teammates couldn’t hear him; he was ecstatic that finally Golden State was on track for a rare road win.All Golden State needed to do was hold on. Suspect identified, accused of stabbing pregnant woman and children in Antioch

ANTIOCH, Calif. (KRON) -- The man accused of stabbing a pregnant woman and two children was identified on Monday by Antioch police. The suspect is 37-year-old Antioch resident Bartley Hall. Police also announced charges against the suspect, which were three felony counts of attempted murder and two felony counts of evading a police officer. Postmaster describes ‘disturbing’ rise in crimes against Oakland postal workers The Antioch Police Department responded to the incident on the 100 block of Wilbur Avenue at 3:54 p.m. on Saturday. Officers saw a vehicle speeding away from the scene. After a crash in Solano County, Hall was taken into custody. Nobody was injured in the crash though Hall was taken to a hospital for precautionary reasons. There were three victims with stab wounds -- a 35-year-old pregnant woman, a 14-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl. GEYSERVILLE, Calif. (KRON) -- A crash caused thousands of wine bottles to spill across a highway in Geyserville on Monday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol Santa Rosa. Newsom's prison reforms could impact death row inmate who teaches at Stanford The crash occurred on the northbound side of US-101 at Geyserville Avenue and resulted in approximately 10,000 empty wine bottles scattering across the roadway.
