NEWCASTLE, England (AP) — Fresh from signing a new contract, Callum Wilson struck from the penalty spot as Newcastle beat Brentford 1-0 in the Premier League on Saturday. Wilson has just signed a one-year extension to keep him at the club until 2025. And he quickly began to repay the faith Newcastle showed in him with the winner against Brentford at St. James’ Park. It was the Magpies’ first win since the opening game of the season and ended a three-match losing run. Wilson converted a 64th-minute penalty and Eddie Howe’s team moved up to 11th in the standings. (AP) — Green Bay Packers linebacker Quay Walker has cleared concussion protocol, making him available to play Sunday in Atlanta.The Packers announced the change in Walker’s status Saturday. The 2022 first-round pick from Georgia had left the Packers’ season-opening 38-20 victory at Chicago after scoring on a 37-yard interception return.Green Bay also elevated safety Innis Gaines and running back Patrick Taylor from the practice squad to the active roster for Sunday’s game with the Falcons. Taylor’s elevation could provide the Packers some insurance in the event running back Aaron Jones is unable to play.Jones hasn’t practiced all week and is listed as questionable on the Packers’ injury report due to a hamstring injury. A tree crushed a Cohasset police cruiser Saturday.Cohasset police said a tree smashed down onto the vehicle but the officer was OK. South Main and River Road were completely blocked officials said just before 2 p.m.An image of the car shows the a tree split in half on top of the vehicle, which is pulled off to the side of the road. It was unclear if the officer was in the vehicle when the tree fell.Post-tropical cyclone Lee passed by Massachusetts early Saturday morning, leading to strung gusts that knocked down other trees. Bettors put nearly $315 million on the line in wagers on sporting events that took place last month, producing more than $22.7 million in taxable revenue for operators and about $4.55 million in tax revenue for the state.The Mass. Gaming Commission said Friday that sports wagering and casino-style gambling combined in August to generate more than $120.6 million in taxable revenue for operators and $32.16 million in revenue for the state. Murder charges filed against Chicago man accused of killing teen in Kenwood

CHICAGO — Charges have been filed against a Chicago man accused of fatally shooting a teen girl in the city's Kenwood neighborhood in early March.Steven Goodman, 37, from the city's Austin neighborhood is facing a first-degree murder charge and a murder-for-hire charge, Chicago police said in a news release on Saturday. 2 teens dead after shooting in Palatine Authorities say the shooting happened on Wednesday, March 1, in the 4500 block of South Drexel Boulevard. According to police, the 17-year-old victim suffered a gunshot wound and succumbed to her injuries several days later after turning 18.Police say Goodman was arrested in connection to the shooting several months later on Thursday, Sept. 14 in the 5100 block of West 73rd Street in Bedford Park, Ill.Authorities say Goodman will appear in Central Bond Court on Sunday, Sept. 17.
