Ulster County woman pleads guilty to aggravated vehicular assault and DWI

NAPANOCH, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A 55-year-old Napanoch resident pleaded guilty to two charges of aggravated vehicular assault and two charges of driving while ability impaired by drugs. Nancy Naccarato faces up to ten years in prison on each conviction for aggravated vehicular assault. Get the latest news, weather, sports and more delivered right to your inbox! According to court documents, Naccarato struck a pedestrian on State Route 209 in Wawarsing on December 3, 2022. A blood test revealed Naccarato had Ambien and cocaine in her system at the time of the crash. The pedestrian sustained serious injuries.On February 17, 2023, Naccarato reportedly caused a head-on collision in Marbletown. A blood test found alprazolam and cocaine in her system. Three individuals sustained serious injuries in the crash.Sentencing is scheduled for March 4, 2024. Naccarato has a prior DWI conviction from 2017. New homeless shelter coming to Montgomery County

AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The first permanent homeless shelter of Montgomery County has received funding to get started on groundbreaking. The City of Amsterdam approved this building at 76 Guy Park Avenue for the location of the new homeless shelter. “The city certainly can use it. It's going to be a great asset,” said Mayor Michael Cinquanti. Concern over new homeless shelter in Amsterdam The city received a grant of just over five million dollars to start the project. The money will help transform and rebuild the vacant building into a much needed 16 bed permanent homeless shelter. “Well, we have a homeless problem. It's a small one but it's a significant one. Report: NY needs to address nursing home pandemic issues

Colonie among first areas to test car emergency vehicle alerts

COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A few towns in our area including Colonie will be one of the first places in the nation to test pilot technology that alerts drivers to emergency response vehicles before they’re close by.  “I believe it's the wave of the future, and I'm glad we're at the forefront of it, said Colonie's Town Supervisor Peter Crummey. He explained that the developing technology would tap into the infotainment systems of cars to provide the notifications. Crummey was revved up for the $2.4 Million dollar grant, funded by the US Department of Transportation’s 'Safe Streets for All' Program. KINGSTON, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Ulster County is adopting a $412 million spending plan for the upcoming fiscal year. Total Access Urgent Care to pay $9.1 million settlement over false claims allegations

LOUIS (AP) — One of the largest urgent care chains in Missouri will pay $9.1 million to settle allegations that the company submitted false claims for medical services, including COVID-19 testing.The U.S. Attorney's Office in St. Louis on Thursday announced the settlement with Total Access Urgent Care, which operates more than two dozen clinics in the St. Louis area.“This settlement will fully repay three federal health care programs for TAUC's overbilling for COVID tests and office visits,” U.S. Attorney Sayler A. Fleming said in a news release.Federal prosecutors said Total Access Urgent Care submitted false insurance claims for COVID-19 testing between April 2021 and December 2021, using improper billing codes that resulted in the company getting reimbursements at a rate that was too high.From 2017 to 2021, TAUC was accused of falsely claiming that doctors participated in some office visits that were actually overseen by non-physician practitioners. 7-Eleven closing decade-old store near East High

A 7-Eleven convenience store that has operated for more than a decade near East High School is closing.Merchandise at the 2341 E. Colfax Ave. store is 50% off, with the exception of lottery tickets and tobacco products, according to signs posted outside the store.The store at the corner of Colfax and Josephine opened in 2011. Its building was erected specifically for 7-Eleven.The property is owned by Denver-based Kentro Group. Kentro executive Jimmy Balafas said 7-Eleven corporate, which owns the store, sent him a letter about the closure but didn’t explain the reason for it.Balafas said 7-Eleven’s lease for the property extends another couple years. Inmate dies in Douglas County jail, investigation underway

An inmate at the Douglas County Detention Center died Wednesday morning, sheriff’s deputies said Thursday.At 5 a.m. Wednesday, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputies stationed at the county detention center responded to an inmate suffering an unknown medical issue, according to a Thursday news release from the department.When deputies arrived, the inmate was unconscious and not breathing, the news release stated.Deputies immediately started lifesaving efforts on-scene and transported the inmate to a nearby hospital, where he was later declared dead by medical staff, the release stated.According to the release, there were no signs of a physical altercation or suspicious activity, but the investigation is ongoing.The Douglas County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy Thursday and is expected to release the inmate’s name and cause of death later Thursday afternoon.This is a developing story.Related ArticlesCrime and Public Safety | Driver was drun...
