A bipartisan congressional group from California and Nevada has asked for federal funding to be fast-tracked for the high-speed train from Los Angeles to Las Vegas.A new station will be built in Rancho Cucamonga and will connect to existing Metrolink service lines in San Bernardino and Los Angeles. Riders from SoCal area can arrive in Vegas in a little over two hours while traveling at speeds of nearly 200 mph.The company behind the project, Brightline West, will spend over $10 billion to lay tracks along the Interstate 15 corridor in a public-private partnership.The Nevada Department of Transportation is seeking $3.75 billion in federal funding from the Biden administration-backed federal infrastructure law.All six of Nevada’s elected federal lawmakers and four House members from California sent the letter to U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, asking for funds to be fast-tracked.Brightline’s train will connect the Los Angeles metro area to Las Vegas with high speed rail....

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Charges will be dropped against the man accused of striking former San Francisco Fire Commissioner Don Carmignani with a metal pipe, Carmignani told KRON4. Carmignani, 53, was struck in the Marina District on April 5, resulting in hospitalization and surgery.Garret Allen Doty, 24, was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery with serious bodily injury, and assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury for the incident. Woman hospitalized after car plummets into ravine in Rock Creek Park

A woman is in the hospital after her car fell down a ravine in Rock Creek Park Tuesday afternoon.D.C. Fire and EMS said the car left the road around 5 p.m. on Piney Branch Parkway — east of Beach Drive in Northwest D.C.Update crash with entrapment Piney Branch Parkway NW. Using a rope pulley system & ladders, Special Operations personnel lifted patient to roadway. Adult female to be transported with serious injuries. Storm chaser captures image of landspout near Keenesburg

KEENESBURG, Colo. (KDVR) — A storm chaser captured an image of a local landspout on the Eastern Plains. Jennifer Walton started the initiative Girls Who Chase in January 2022. The Broomfield woman said she has been storm chasing for about seven years. On Tuesday afternoon, she said, she predicted what she would see.“I knew it was a landspout, because you can tell from the behavior of the clouds above it, and what is going on," Walton said. Elevation is the main reason Denver won’t see snow. Here’s why Walton said she can't wait for what the weather has in store for Wednesday. “It just reminds me how small we are,” she added. “And how powerful Mother Nature can be, and the ability to get to share that with other people, just gets me up in the morning." Heavy hail and street flooding were spotted in the town of Keenesburg. So far, there have been no reports of injury or property damage.
