A once-in-a-century date will cap off 2023. Here's what it means

(WJW) — The year 2023 will end on special date that only happens once in a century: 12/31/23. It's not a palindrome date, which refers to a number sequence that can be read the same way forward and backward. There was a 10-day stretch of palindromes back in March of this year: 3-20-23, 3-21-23, 3-22-23, 3-23-23, 3-24-23, 3-25-23, 3-26-23, 3-27-23, 3-28-23 and 3-29-23.Palindromes are considered lucky because they are rare, according to the Farmer's Almanac. But the date that New Year's Eve falls on this year is quite rare, too. The last time the year ended with 123123 was in 1923. Silver Alert for 74-year-old Kyle man discontinued

KYLE, Texas (KXAN) -- A Silver Alert that was issued late Thursday night for a man reported missing from Kyle was discontinued Friday morning. The Kyle Police Department was searching for the 74-year-old after he was last seen Thursday at 5 p.m. Police said the man has a diagnosed cognitive impairment.

CDTA offers free rides on New Year's Eve

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Capital District Transportation Authority is offering free rides starting at 8 p.m. on New Year's Eve. The offer runs until approximately 2 a.m. on January 1. Amsterdam looking for food vendor for its golf course

AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The City of Amsterdam has issued a request for proposals for food and beverage service at the Amsterdam Municipal Golf Course Pavilion. Because of that, the Pavilion has been renovated to serve a light fare menu and has a full-service drink station. St. Louis police warn against celebratory gunfire to ring in new year

ST. LOUIS - We're just days away from ringing in the new year. There are lots of ways to celebrate, but police say there's at least one act of celebration that's illegal in St. Louis.
