HELENA, Mont. (AP) — Globs of asphalt binder that spilled into Montana’s Yellowstone River during a bridge collapse and train derailment could be seen on islands and riverbanks downstream from Yellowstone National Park a week after the spill occurred, witnesses report.Officials with the Environmental Protection Agency said cleanup efforts began on Sunday, with workers cooling the gooey material with river water, rolling it up and putting the globs into garbage bags. CARSTAIRS, Alta. — Elisa Humphreys knew she needed help after a tornado leveled two structures on her central Alberta property over the weekend. But her social media plea for assistance wound up attracting  dozens of local volunteers who came forward to help clean up the shattered remnants of the house and mobile home that once stood there. Humphreys estimated there were 100 helpers at her property just northeast of Carstairs on Sunday afternoon — so many that one person’s only task was directing others where to park. CFD Firefighter hospitalized after mayday call, fire in Austin

CHICAGO — A firefighter with the Chicago Fire Department is in the hospital after CFD responded to a fire in the Austin neighborhood Sunday.According to CFD, a mayday call was made early Sunday evening in the 1200 block of North Lavergne Avenue, where a firefighter was taken from the scene in serious condition to West Suburban Medical Center. 3 shot, 1 fatally, in West Elsdon drive-by shooting Firefighters also said flooding in the area made it difficult to respond to the fire.No other information is available at this time.

CHICAGO — Two males and one woman were shot Saturday evening in the West Elsdon neighborhood — with one person dying from their wounds — according to the Chicago Police Department.CPD said they responded to a call of shots fired around 7:50 p.m. in the 5300 block of South Kostner Avenue. A witness to the shooting told officers an unidentified male was firing shots from a silver sedan traveling on Kostner, and when they arrived on scene, police found three victims. The first victim was an unidentified male victim who had been shot in the head. Police said he appeared to be 16-18 years in age and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.CPD said a second victim — a 19-year-old male — was shot in the leg and hand. An earthquake measuring 3.8 in magnitude rattled many residents awake in the Los Angeles area early Sunday morning.The quake struck at 2:29 a.m. and was centered roughly 13 miles southwest of Malibu at a depth of 18 miles in the Pacific Ocean, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Altadena Station and the Altadena Mountain Rescue Team are searching for a hiker who went missing on Saturday morning. According to LASD, 65-year-old Albert Baer Zisook was last seen near Chaney Trail and Loma Alta Drive in Altadena at 6 a.m. Saturday morning. Zisook is listed at 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs 165 pounds.
