Medicare Part B premiums to rise by 6 percent in 2024

(The Hill) - The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced the monthly Medicare Part A and B premiums for 2024 on Thursday, with the costs set to go up by six percent next year.CMS would go up by $9.80 from $164.90 to $174.70 in 2024 and the annual deductible for Medicare Part B beneficiaries will go up from $226 to $240 as well. This price increase comes after Medicare Part B premiums went down for the first time in more than 10 years in 2023.Medicare Part B covers medically necessary services and preventive services which include mental health services, some outpatient prescription drugs, ambulance services and durable medical equipment.The premium announced on Thursday falls in line with what the Medicare Board of Trustees estimated the 2024 premium would be earlier this year."The increase in the 2024 Part B standard premium and deductible is mainly due to projected increases in health care spending and, to a lesser degree, the remedy for the 340B-acquired drug p...

Greg Abbott’s agenda for this third special session. Texas Senate unveils its priority school voucher-like legislation The funding comes from Texas’ general revenue and would be available for eligible pre-K through 12 school-aged children. Pittsfield PD responds to fatal construction zone crash

PITTSFIELD, Mass. (NEWS10) -- Pittsfield Police responded to a crash in a construction zone Thursday, resulting in the death of someone working in the roadway. On Thursday, around 7:52 a.m., multiple crews responded to 777 West Street for a report of a car that crashed into a pedestrian. Police say the eastbound land was closed to traffic for construction, and cars were being directed into the westbound lane by a flagger. Cassavant was taken to Berkshire Medical Center where he later died as a result of his injuries. In 2020, approximately 4.5% of the EU's total employment, an estimated 9.4 million people, worked within the agriculture, forestry, and fishing sector. The vast majority, or 4.2% of total employment, worked in agriculture. The agriculture, forestry and fishing sector continues to be a significant source of employment, particularly in eastern and southern EU countries. Looking at the NUTS 3 regional data, Romania's Vaslui (61.7%) and Neamţ (51.4%) regions reported the highest employment rates in this sector.
