String of business break-ins in south St. Louis City, police investigating

ST. LOUIS - Multiple break-ins overnight at south St. Louis businesses have the police very busy at this hour.'Broadway Mart,' on the 4200 block of South Broadway, not far at all from I-55, is one of the businesses that was hit in the string of overnight break-ins. Significant damage was done to the door at the scene. It appears that broken lights from a vehicle of some sort are outside the door.FOX 2 reporters actually noticed the damage when arriving to do live shots in front of an 'O'Reilly Auto Parts' store very close to there, which was also broken into. Police are also at that location.The break-ins started at the 'Family Dollar' on the 4600 block of Gravois. Police responded there just before 2:00 a.m. In that case, the door was damaged, but it was not ripped off. Again, no word on what may have been taken. Close Thanks for signing up! LOUIS - There is opposition Wednesday morning to an 'Unhoused Bill of Rights' proposal in St. Louis City.Mayor Tishaura Jones and three aldermen are now voicing opposition to the current plan, citing various legal concerns, including conflicts with state law. The plan would decriminalize homelessness. It would create a pathway for safe camping areas and remove barriers to establishing homeless shelters.According to FOX 2's partners at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Aldermen Anne Schweitzer,Michael Browning, and Shameem Clark Hubbard said they couldn't support proposed bills, making it easier to open homeless shelters across the city and harder to clear homeless encampments. They haven't said what revisions would change their minds. St. Louis County Council cracking down on open carry for teens

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - The St. Louis County Council approves a plan to crack down on teens openly carrying guns.The bill passed with a four-to-two vote. It would require a concealed carry license to openly carry a gun in an unincorporated county. That blocks teens from open carrying because minors can't get a concealed carry license. Local cops unmask international suspects’ clever crime tricks The state hasn't said it's going to sue to stop the city's law. The county's bill won't apply to dozens of municipalities. Lawmakers want those municipalities to pass their own version.The new bill heads to County Executive Sam Page, who is expected to sign it.

ST. LOUIS - The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis will host its annual 'Great Futures Gala' Wednesday. It's the organization's largest fundraising event.It's also when the 2023 'Youth of the Year' will be announced. Three of the four finalists will receive a scholarship. STLCC Forest Park breaking ground on transportation center today

LOUIS - St. Louis Community College at Forest Park is set to break ground on a new transportation center on Wednesday.Organizers say it will bring the college's car and diesel technology and professional truck driving programs under one roof with more room for students. The center will also include a 193,000-square-foot truck driving lot for on-hand training.
