EU defers major entry exam over English-only testing

BRUSSELS — The EU’s personnel agency told thousands of wannabe Eurocrats their entry exams had been postponed due to technical issues with the testing platform. Some students at Brockton High School have recently been spending class time in their school’s cafeteria as the public school district deals with a shortage of substitute teachers. On any given day, school officials said, there are between 17 and 29 teachers absent. Without enough substitutes, students have been left with no place to go, leaving parents frustrated. One such parent, Mary Lacivita, said her 16-year-old son is also frustrated after spending hours each school week without a teacher. So far this school year, Lacivita said, one of her son’s AP class teachers has been absent for nearly 30% of classes. District officials told 7NEWS students without a teacher or a substitute on a given day are asked to go to the cafeteria where Lacivita’s son said there is little to no supervision.“There’s a fight every day, at some point, whether it’s during lunch or whether it’s the group of students in the cafeteria because their teachers are absent,” Lacivita said.“Th...

5 teens charged in connection with assault, robbery of postal worker in Medford

Five teenagers have been charged in connection with the assault and robbery of a postal worker in Medford late last month, according to police. Medford police announced charges on Thursday night, just over a week after the alleged attack on Oct. 31. Officials previously said the postal worker was delivering mail on Arden Street in Medford when a group of individuals attacked him and stole his mailbox master key. The postal worker was ultimately taken to a hospital with serious facial injuries. Investigators were spotted on scene in Medford for hours after this incident. In Thursday’s update, police said investigators marked a break in the case on Nov. 2 when local night shift patrol officers saw a car speeding in the area of South Street and Main Street in Medford. After stopping the vehicle, Medford police said officers found a loaded gun, a backpack containing stolen mail and a mailbox master key.
